Chorus of the Neverborn 125
Artist’s Comments: I wanted to do something a little crazy when you’re seeing things from Bloodfire’s perspective, so I scanned in my pencils for this page and upped the levels before the coloring stage instead of inking. I think it looks sufficiently insane. 😀
Author’s Comments: I don’t have a witty comment this week… NaNoWriMo, you bastard.
I love it!
Really love the art this week 🙂
I’m afraid I’m not really versed enough in Exalted lore to really understand what’s happening right now…
As someone who is possibly much less versed in it I can try to explain:
The thing is a proverbial monster chained in the basement. It ended up there because either someone thought it would be a good idea to put it there or else it was just too hard to kill and somehow chaining it up was easier than killing it. One of the things it fears about this captain is his sword, likely because of some kind of macguffin-ness to it. Because it notices the captain doesn’t have that we’re about to find out if this monster is really restrained by those chains or if fear of the captain and his sword is what kept him in the basement.
If I had to guess? Fear of the sword, kid gets control of the monster.
Cold -Forged-Iron, in the Exalted rules, does “Aggravated damage” (A special kind of magically-bolstered hurt) to creatures born out of or sufficiently mutated by the chaos energies of the Wyld.
Cold iron… cold iron… big ugly is a fairy? I suppose there were some pretty strange kinds of fairies if you go looking through the lore, I can dig it.
